MEET OUR FOUNDER:
KAREN CRUMMY
Founder Karen Crummy is an award-winning former investigative reporter and lawyer. With more than two decades of experience in communications, law and journalism, she is an invaluable asset to organizations navigating public policy and regulatory issues, formulating data-driven campaign messages, creating and maintaining media relations, managing crises, raising individual or group profiles, understanding government investigations and developing educational and persuasive messaging across all platforms.

An expert at synthesizing vast amounts of information, Karen spots the most compelling story lines to create original content directed at specific audiences. And at a time when most Americans are getting their news and information from multiple devices in diverse formats, she knows how to deploy the right message on the most effective medium to reach those audiences.
Karen has interviewed U.S. Presidents (one belched in her face while drinking a Diet Coke, and no, she won’t tell you who) and traveled on planes, trains, buses and pickup trucks covering numerous presidential and vice-presidential contenders, state and federal office seekers and interviewed voters across the country, including one who tried to pet Iowa’s Butter Cow.

She cut her political teeth at The Boston Herald, covering Boston's longest-serving mayor, the policies and never-ending scandals of Massachusetts governors and legislators and the state's congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. after 9/11.

After leaving Boston, Karen landed in Denver with tough skin and a distaste for the word "wicked." As both a political and investigative reporter at The Denver Post, her work has been cited as the reason for the withdrawal of a U.S. Attorney candidate and the defeat of the leading gubernatorial candidate who allegedly plagiarized from a Colorado Supreme Court Justice. Her data obsession also led her on a 100-hours-long journey to reveal that one political party outspent the other by a margin of 150 to 1 in an election year that had severe political repercussions.

Karen has moderated gubernatorial and U.S. Senate debates and been interviewed by Fox, CNN, C-SPAN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The L.A. Times, and other national and local newspapers and radio. Prior to founding Vantage Point, Karen was a principal at BluePrint Strategies, LLC, a full service public affairs firm in Denver.

A native of NORTHERN New Jersey, Karen knows every exit off every highway that leads to the house she grew up in (but doesn’t think it’s funny when you ask her), uses phrases like “down the shore” and desperately misses 3 a.m. diner runs, hoagies, Devil Dogs, real bagels and gas stations that only offer full service.

Karen received a B.A. in history and M.A. in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Her guiding life principle is that when all else fails, pull the goalie. No matter how much time is left on the clock.
